                                            ARTICLE ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT

Directions: Throughout the semester, you will be required to critically read and analyze selected articles. You will then write an analysis of the article, which must contain the following information:

1. MLA Works Cited entry for the article (5 points)
2. One-page summary of article - you must include a discussion of the main idea, major supporting details, and the author's primary purpose; you may also want to discuss audience, tone, point of view, patterns of organization, and argument (if applicable) 50 points)
3. Three interesting things that you learned from the article (5 points)
4. Five new vocabulary words and their definitions (5 points)
5. Half page response to the article (What is your opinion of it, reaction to it, etc.?) (35 points)
6. You must turn in your analyses on time (see course agenda) and format them correctly in MLA style! Please type them in 12-point standard font, double-spaced with one-inch margins. No late work will be accepted.

Assessment: Your work will be evaluated based on completeness of the assignment and quality of the written analyses.
