Mexican War Drummer

- Daguerreotype shows a young man in the uniform of a U.S. Army infantry drummer, during the time of the Mexican War. He is seated, facing forward with a plumed Shako hat placed on top of a large bass drum at his side; cloth strips on his shoulders form the drum straps. A drumbeater with a leather covered ball for striking the drum rests across his legs.
