Library Database Searches

In addition to searching online and in books for information about your chosen career, you can also search the SanJac Library Databases to find articles from magazines, newspapers, and journals.

Why search the databases? They're available to you 24 hours a day, wherever you have Internet access! So if you have Internet at home, you can do research right from home - no need to make a trip to the lirbary.

In addition, many magazines, newspapers, and journals are not available for free or in full text if you find them through Google, and can only be accessed through subscription databases like the ones we offer at SanJac.You will never be charged for an article in the library databases.

Even if you find an article that we don't have full-text access to through the databases, the librarians can always order it for you - free of charge - through interlibrary loan.

The libraries provide access to almost 70 databases, but you don't have to use every one. Use the pages underneath this tab to find out:

  • how to access the databases

  • which are the best databases to use for this project, and how to search more than one database at a time

  • how to choose the best keywords for your search

  • how to narrow your search results down to full-text articles

  • how to print, save, email, and cite articles you find in the databases

  • how to use EBSCO's folder feature to bookmark articles for later
