If you need a book or an article that's not available on your campus, we can try to get that item for you from another library. Depending on the item and where the lending library is located, we usually get it within a week or so.

Take a look at the different options below to see which one fits your needs, and contact a librarian for more information.

Interlibrary Loan

ILL stands for Interlibrary loan. That means we ask a different library to us the book or article you need so you can check it out. Contact a librarian with this info to request a book through ILL:

For a Book:

  • Title
  • Author(s) or editor(s)
  • Date of publication
  • Name of publisher
  • ISBN

For an Article:

  • Title
  • Author(s)
  • Title of the journal, magazine, newspaper, or book where the article was published
  • Date of publication
  • Volume and/or issue number
  • Page numbers
  • ISSN

Depending on the location of the lending library, we'll receive your item in a week or more. Articles may be sent electronically or by physical mail.

San Jac will never charge you for ILLs. However, some lenders do charge a fee. We will notify you if a lender intends to charge a fee so that you can decide if you want to pay it.

As the borrower, you are responsible for any overdue fees or charges for lost or damaged items.
