Step 3: Search Results

Below is a glimpse of what you would see after clicking on the blue Search button in an Author search.  Please note that the author's (editor's) full name appears in both bibliographic records, particularly last name first.  Click on the next tab above to see how to narrow your search results.

  1. Check the box next to Full Text in the left margin so that all results will include full-text articles, books, or ebooks.
  2. Check the box next to Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals if your professor requires it.
  3. You may change the Publication Date range either by typing dates into the boxes below or by using the mouse to slide the blue boxes.
  4. Under Filter by Material Type, you can narrow the results even further by checking the box next to the type of material that you want.

By clicking on an article title, you will see a page similar to this:

  1. The number of pages is located next to Source, as well as the publication date;
  2. An Abstract summarizes the article;
  3. A link to the entire article, PDF Full Text, is located in the left margin;
  4. Tools in the right margin include one called Cite, which provides various citation formats for the article, including APA & MLA.

Also located in the Tools section (see right margin) are ways to save an article.  Options include Google Drive, Add to folder (see Tool Bar Links tab for details), Print, E-mail, and Save.  Click here for information on how to print an article on campus.
